Na Tomorrowland 2011 verscheen er een veertien minuten durend videoverslag op Youtube. Dat filmpje is al 44 miljoen keer bekeken. ‘Dat is ongehoord’, zegt Patrick Walker, bij Youtube verantwoordelijk voor content partnerships. ‘Dus toen we een lijstje opmaakten van met welke festivals we wilden gaan praten, staken zij er echt tussenuit.’
Youtube, een filiaal van Google, is voor veel jongeren al een plek geworden om naar muziek te kijken en luisteren. Maar dan vooral naar videoclips. Sinds vorig jaar is de videosite echter steeds meer evenementen live aan het ‘streamen’. Zoals het Coachellafestival in Californië in april, of een optreden van Coldplay in Madrid, in oktober vorig jaar. Maar ook bijvoorbeeld het huwelijk van William en Kate, dat door 72 miljoen mensen werd gevolgd via Youtube. Er zijn het afgelopen jaar een klein handjevol Europese festivals live op Youtube te zien geweest, zoals Rock in Rio Lissabon en Rock in Rio Madrid.
‘Er is nu meer vraag van festivals dan we aankunnen’, zegt Walker. ‘Volgend jaar willen we veel breder gaan, met ook andere festivals in België, Scandinavië en de Duitstalige landen.’

Mobistar testte afgelopen maandag officieel het allereerste 4G netwerk in België. Het telecombedrijf had reeds de beste 3G dekking in ons land, maar experimenteert nu ook met de nieuwe generatie van mobiel internet. Het 4G netwerk, de opvolger van het reeds bestaande 3G netwerk, zou tot tien maal sneller zijn dan zijn voorganger. (de ‘G’ in 3G en 4G staat voor ‘generation’).
Momenteel gebruikt 1 op 4 Mobistar klanten mobiel internet op diens mobiel toestel. Nu in de Verenigde Staten en Duitsland het 4G netwerk steeds uitbreidt, is het logisch dat België volgens Mobistar. ‘Technologische innovatie is pas relevant wanneer de consument er klaar voor is, en dat lijkt nu het geval te zijn’, zegt Olivier Ysewijn, de chief strategy officer bij Mobistar.

De IKEA productie afdelingen waren zeker en vast druk bezet de afgelopen maanden, het bedrijf voegt naast kasten en bedden nu ook bier toe aan zijn lijst van producten.
Het bier noemt ‘Öl Mörk Lager‘ (vertaald komt dat ongeveer neer op ‘donkere pils’), heeft een alcohol percentage van 4.7% en het goede nieuws is dat het bier zonder instructies komt – no assembly required, it’s ready to drink. Tot dusver lijkt het bier ook wel aan te slaan bij de meeste mensen; het kreeg rond de 4 op 5 punten op verschillende bier beoordelingswebsites.
Het bier is alleen beschikbaar in de IKEA winkels in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
