Windows 10 update/upgrade Error Code 0x8031004a

Recently, I was in my Windows 10 Update menu to update my Windows 10 installation to the latest version so that I have the most recent security fixes and the newest functionalities for my operating system.

However, I was greeted with the following error messages that prevented my update to continue/complete:

How to fix error code 0x8031004a in Windows 10? It most likely means there is something wrong with BitLocker on your system.

BitLocker Drive Encryption cannot be used because critical BitLocker system files are missing or corrupted. Use Windows Startup Repair to restore these files to your computer. (0x8031004A)

Solve this error message in Windows can in many ways. Most likely, there is not enough disk space available on your system. So try to free up some disk space so that the operating system can go ahead and update/upgrade to the latest Microsoft Windows version there is available.
